Our desire is simple, to serve the community of Kwa Murugi by following the example of Jesus. We don’t think that bringing brought up in poverty should define ones life and we strive to help the people of the Kwa Murugi community.
It is a privilege to work with all the people of Kwa Murugi and whilst the word ‘slum’ is associated with it, it is our goal to aid the development of a thriving community that brings hope to the families within it, ultimately breaking the cycle of poverty.
There are a number of initiatives that we have started that will hope will aid this process:
Our first major project was the building of a school specifically for children of the Kwa Murugi community to enable as many children as possible to access education. We completed this project at the end of 2016 and began a greater focus on the community as a whole, looking at how we as The Doxa Project can best serve the community of Kwa Murugi.
MEET THE TEAM
Here is the team behind the screen at The Doxa Project, we thought you might like to put a face to us.
Ben founded The Doxa Project following a visit to Kenya in 2010. His heart is to serve the people of Kwa Murugi and be able to bring real hope into as many of their lives as possible. He spends his time working on the day to day running of the charity and plenty of that involves communication with our partners with Kenya.
Ray BalmerRight hand man
Ray is key to the continuing work of The Doxa Project. He certainly is Ben’s right hand man and spends more time on the ground in Kenya than any of us. He has ran numerous trips to Kenya, taking people out to work within Kwa Murugi and is always eager to dine in the very local establishments!
Davy BrownThe Business Brain
Davy brings a wealth of business and strategic knowledge to The Doxa Project. Having a background in successful multi-billion dollar tech companies means he is well equipped to direct our planning and help us maintain focus on things we are trying to achieve as a charity.
Shaun ByfordThe Hands On Man
Shaun was in charge of our first building project out in Kenya and has years of experience working in practical missions across the globe. An electrician by trade, he is more than equipped when it comes to some hands on practical work. Having the strength of an Ox also helps his cause!
Daphne HolmesThe Marketing Guru
Daph loves to pick up the phone, ping an email or simply deliver a presentation on The Doxa Project. She has a unique way of opening up doors to get the story of our work in Kenya out to the world. She is always full of ideas and diligent in seeing them come to fruition.
Laura RyanThe Legal Head
Every organisation needs to ensure it functions correctly and meets the requirements of the law and Laura makes sure that we do this as a charity. She has worked as a solicitor for over ten years and specialised in charity law over that time.
